Our professional educators are here to help your child build confidence and knowledge. Each session:
Your child works with the same tutor who provides individualized instruction based on their needs.
Your child's homework is completed and checked for accuracy.
We review and reteach daily classwork and/or learning objectives.
You are informed of progress, homework, upcoming assessments from your child's tutor.
Upcoming projects and exams have been discussed, and assigned a timeline for studying or completion.

Christina Lazar
FOUNDER
Christina Lazar is an honor graduate of the University of North Carolina Charlotte College of Education. Originally from NY, she has worked as a mentor, teacher, coach, and advocate for children for over 25 years. With the support of her former school, parents of students, and colleagues, Christina opened The Lazar Center of Charlotte in 2007. Since then, she has supported hundreds of students as they grow equally in confidence and academic achievement. Her favorite thing about her work is finding that unique key that allows her team to unlock each student’s potential.
Sarah Farley
Director of HR & Finance
Originally from Upstate New York, Sarah moved to Fort Mill in 2024 and has been keeping things running smoothly at Lazar Tutoring & Test Prep ever since. With over 11 years of experience in office management, HR, and accounting, she brings a steady hand and a big heart to everything she does.
Sarah is a mom of 4 and loves watching her boys play football and basketball, hiking, and relaxing at the ocean.
Madison
TUTOR
Madison is a student at Western Governors University, attending the Teachers College. As an instructional assistant for special education in the Fort Mill School District, she brings valuable experience in supporting diverse learners. She has also worked as a substitute teacher for all grade levels, a preschool teacher, and a nanny. Madison is passionate about teaching children and building lasting connections that help them grow academically. She is excited to share that passion with the students at Lazar and looks forward to making a positive impact.
Sydney
TUTOR
Sydney earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Currently, she is completing her Master’s in Special Education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, graduating in May. With four years of experience teaching in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District, Sydney has worked with students with a wide range of diverse learning needs. Her approach is student-centered, compassionate, and tailored to help every learner succeed. Outside of tutoring, Sydney enjoys paddle boarding on the lake, exploring all that Charlotte has to offer, and traveling with friends and family.
Bob
TUTOR
Robert graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education/Special Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Supervision and Administration from Kent State University. He had the pleasure of teaching elementary, middle, and high school students for 34 years in the Rock Hill and Fort Mill School Districts. During this time, he developed, copyrighted, and published 102 workbooks and program guides for students and teachers. He also received the South Carolina NAMI Teacher of The Year Award while working with special needs students in the Fort Mill School District.
Robert enjoys tutoring students and guiding them to reach their full potential in school. He believes there is nothing better than seeing a student be successful and have a positive self image.
Zachary
TUTOR
Zac is a final-year student at Southern New Hampshire University (Class of 2025), pursuing a B.S. in Game Development and Programming. He began his academic journey at Furman University, studying Chemistry and Spanish. With previous teaching experience, Zac has helped students strengthen their academic skills through personalized support and engaging lessons. He brings a strong foundation in STEM and a creative mindset to every session, especially enjoying the process of building interactive experiences. Zac is passionate about blending technology and storytelling, and is dedicated to helping others succeed in both academics and in life!
Caitlin
LEAD TUTOR
Caitlin earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Cleveland State University and her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of Mount Union. Her academic and professional journey has been rooted in a passion for education, cognitive science, and student development.
Over the years, Caitlin has worked closely with children and adolescents in both clinical and educational settings—providing academic support, conducting cognitive assessments, and coaching high school basketball. She has also taught undergraduate psychology and statistics courses as a teaching assistant, where she reinforced complex concepts through engaging lessons and one-on-one support.
Caitlin brings a compassionate, adaptive, and evidence-based approach to tutoring. She aims to help students build confidence, develop strong study habits, and approach learning with curiosity and resilience.
Kelsie

Kelsie is a certified teacher with a strong background in early childhood and elementary education. She has taught second grade and has several years of experience working with preschool and elementary-aged children in both classroom and childcare settings. Kelsie combines up-to-date training with practical teaching expertise.
Known for her warm personality and ability to connect with students, Kelsie creates a positive and engaging environment where children feel supported and excited to learn. She is skilled at tailoring lessons to meet each child’s needs, whether reinforcing foundational skills in reading and math or helping students grow in confidence and independence. Parents appreciate her strong communication, reliability, and genuine care for her students’ success.
Anissa
TUTOR
With 28 years of classroom experience, Anissa is a highly skilled educator who knows how to bring out the best in every child. A proud graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Elementary Education, she has spent nearly three decades helping students master reading, writing, and math while building the confidence they need to succeed.
Anissa’s teaching style is both nurturing and structured. She takes time to understand each child’s unique learning style and creates personalized lessons that keep students engaged and motivated. Parents value her ability to turn academic struggles into breakthroughs and to instill in her students a genuine love of learning.
Hershel
TUTOR
Hershel brings both strong academic training and hands-on teaching experience to his work with students. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics from UNC Charlotte, where he earned Chancellor’s List honors. His background includes several years as an Educational Enrichment Advisor, where he guided students of all ages in mastering math concepts, strengthening study skills, and building confidence.
Specializing in math through Calculus IV, Hershel also tutors in Chemistry, Geology, Biology, and Environmental Science. Families value his patience, clear explanations, and ability to make even complex material approachable. His lessons focus on problem-solving, persistence, and real-world application, skills that help students not only improve their grades but also develop lasting confidence in their abilities.
Amanda
TUTOR
Amanda brings over 20 years of teaching experience to her work with students, specializing in both special education and English instruction. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Clarion University, with dual majors in Special Education and Elementary Education, and later completed her ESL certification at Millersville University.
Throughout her career, Amanda has taught across grade levels and subject areas, from elementary life skills support to high school English and biology. She has served in leadership roles as a department chair, student council advisor, and Beta Club advisor, and she is currently a co-teacher at Catawba Ridge High School in Fort Mill. Her broad experience includes supporting students with learning differences, English language learners, and those preparing for high school coursework and beyond.
Dalton
TUTOR
Dalton is a proud graduate of Winthrop University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology before completing his Master of Arts in Teaching. Now in his second year of classroom teaching, he works at Catawba Ridge High School, guiding 9th and 10th graders through the study of biology.
With a strong background in life sciences, Dalton also specializes in chemistry and environmental science, giving him the ability to support students across multiple disciplines. He has experience working with learners from diverse backgrounds and is dedicated to making science both accessible and engaging.
